Welcome to our family
All the energies of Hope Home Trust have been focused on the building of a new orphanage to house up to 20 children at Kitaa Hope Home. Friends of Rebecca’s from her time in Brighton, England, loosely based at the Ascension Church, Westdene, Brighton, worked throughout 2008 to raise funds to buy the land.
In January, 2009, a fertile, two acre site was purchased - with much excitement. A purpose-built, environmentally-friendly building has been designed by British architect Stephen Waldron.
After further fundraising, work began in March 2010 on part of his flexible design: a living, eating, play, study, storeroom and office building; one of the sleeping, washroom and toilet blocks; a kitchen; and a laundry. Further money was raised to allow us, in January 2011, to commission a second sleeping, washroom and toilet block. Funds are already available for some landscaping of the grounds, and supporters have given money to allow some good second-hand furniture to be bought by Rebecca. Money raised now will go towards improving furnishings and developing the grounds.
Future Projects
Rebecca and Jonas would like a borehole and solar panels.
Later, in conjunction with the Swedish friends of the Home, we would like to fund some of the day-to-day needs, and provide education and training to the highest possible level for each child.
